Thomas Huy

The young German bass baritone Thomas Huy received a singing scholarship from the city of Neuss during his school days and then studied at the University of Music and Dance in Cologne / Aachen with Prof. Henner Leyhe and currently with Prof. Thomas Piffka. During his training he works with Thomas Braus, Gabriele Rech, Michael Schulz (MiR), Oliver Klöter and Michael Hampe, among others.

Various productions / concerts in the field of opera / music theater, oratorio (Essen Cathedral and others) and lied have taken him to Germany and abroad (e.g. tour of Italy with the Bonn Youth Symphony Orchestra with Mozart's "Der Schauspieldirektor"). Since 2016 he has been a singer with the Düsseldorf Lyric Opera and has appeared in various opera productions and galas, including as Papageno. From October 2019 he will also play the role of Colline (La Bohème) there. With Neue Operetta Düsseldorf he is named Dr. Blind (Die Fledermaus) to be a guest performance in the Solingen Theater and on the Zons open-air stage. Since 2019 he has been part of the Orpheus Theater ensemble, with whom he will be involved in various operetta galas and on concert tours.

In the Tonhalle Düsseldorf you will be able to experience him at the charity gala "Doc Heilein and friends".

Thomas Huy also deals intensively with new music and modern forms of musical theater. These include appearances with the theater ensemble Wunderbaum and Arnon Grunberg at the Ruhrtriennale and at Mousonturm Frankfurt (ML: Kirsten Schötteldreier). Since 2017 he has participated in world premieres at the literary opera in Cologne. The production “Die Marquise von O / Über das Marionettentheater” (premiere 2018; composition: Henrik Albrecht, Michael Gerihsen; director: Andreas Durban) comes to the Wuppertaler Bühnen in December 2019. In June 2019 he is involved in the production "Akademia - Eine Oper" with the Düsseldorf Art Academy.
