Paulina Schulenburg

Paulina Schulenburg discovered her singing talent in the school choir when she successfully sang her first solo in a concert performance of the opera 'Dido and Aeneas' in the Tonhalle Düsseldorf.
After graduating from high school, she studied classical singing in Essen
at the Folkwang University of the Arts (class of Pof.Rachel Robins), where she completed both the 'Bachelor' and the 'Master of Voice Performance' with distinction.
She then postgraduate in 'Lied and Oratorio' at the Mozarteum Salzburg
(Class of Prof. Thérèse Lindquist) and has since been vocalized by Univ.-Prof. em. Ingrid Mayr looks after.
Since 2019 she has been working with the soprano Alexandra von der Weth.

During her studies, in addition to numerous lied and oratorio concerts, she was also involved in various opera productions and was particularly convincing in the role of
'Ruggiero' (Handel / Alcina) and as 'Dido' (Purcell / Dido and Aeneas).
Special highlights were also an appearance at the WDR3 Open Auditions,
where she delighted the audience with songs by Benjamin Britten.
In the field of jazz and pop music, she was involved for several years with her jazz quartet 'PAULINA'.

As a scholarship holder of the Yehudi-Menuhin association 'Live Music Now', she sang in many social institutions such as old people's homes, special schools and prisons, with which she gained concert experience of a special kind.

In 2013, the Düsseldorf native made her debut at the Theater Hagen as 'Tisbe' in a family version of the opera 'La Cenerentola' by Rossini.

Guest appearances took her to the Dortmund Opera, where she took on the leading role in a youth opera based on Bizet's 'Carmen' in 2014.

In 2014 she was a member of the Mozart Opera Institute Salzburg and in this context she was seen in a production by Eike Gramss as 'Bastien' in Mozart's Singspiel.

In the 2015/16 season she sang the role of 'Hansel' in Humperdinck's fairy tale opera at the Cologne Chamber Opera.
In addition, she was involved in various productions by the renowned choirs 'Chorus Musicus Köln' and the 'Kölner Akademie'.

Paulina Schulenburg successfully took part in master classes with great singers such as Olaf Bär, Helen Donath and Anja Hartheros.

She has already worked with well-known directors such as David Freeman, Andreas Homoki, Bruno Klimek, Robert Pflanzl, Georg Rootering and, last but not least, David Mouchtar Samorai.

The lyrical mezzo-soprano has been a permanent member of the ensemble at the Landestheater Schleswig-Holstein since the 2016/17 season and performed there as 'Mercedes' (Bizet / Carmen) and 'Gymnasium' (Berg / Lulu).
In the German premiere of the musical 'Around the World in 80 Days' she not only won over the audience as 'Princess Aouda' but also as the author and composer Øystein Wiik and Gisle Kverndokk.
Most recently she shone in Flensburg as 'Muse / Niklas' and 'Voice of the mother' in
Offenbach's 'Hoffmann's Tales'.
