Jason Tran
Jason Tran (* 1991) began his first conducting training in 2008 with Prof. Volker Wangenheim. He studied music theory / composition with Prof. Johannes Schild (2011 - 2015) and conducting with Prof. Rüdiger Bohn (2012 - 2016) at the music academies in Cologne and Düsseldorf. During his studies he worked as a choir assistant at the Theater Krefeld-Mönchengladbach (2013 - 2016), then as a solo coach with conducting duties at the Staatstheater Darmstadt (2016-2018). Since the 2018/2019 season he has been engaged in the same function at the Deutsche Oper am Rhein Düsseldorf.
Working with vocals is particularly important for Jason Tran and has therefore been practicing and accompanying singers on the piano long before his studies. He is also active as a soloist as a baritone in song recitals, concerts and opera performances.
As a conductor, he has so far directed the Bergische Sinfoniker, the orchestra of the Staatstheater Darmstadt, the Düsseldorfer Symphoniker and Duisburg Symphoniker, the Staatsorchester Rheinische Philharmonie Koblenz, the Neue Philharmonie Westfalen, the orchestra of the Robert-Schumann-Hochschule Düsseldorf and the Romanian Staatsphilharmonie Satu Mare.
He has received composition and arranging commissions from the Cologne Literature Opera, Deutschlandfunk and HfMT Cologne, among others.
Jason Tran is still active today as a versatile pianist, conductor, composer and singer.
